National News: China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi’s recent visit to India has been described as an important step toward improving ties between the two Asian neighbors. Beijing’s official newspaper, Global Times, praised the Indian government for hosting the visit, calling it a sign that New Delhi values stronger relations with China.
The Chinese newspaper noted that India’s decision to hold high-level meetings with Wang Yi shows a serious effort to build a positive relationship. It also criticized the United States, claiming that Washington’s policies in recent years have indirectly pushed India and China closer. According to the report, the tariff war launched by former U.S. President Donald Trump reduced global trade opportunities and encouraged Asian powers to work together.
The article also underlined that ties between India and China had been badly affected after the border clash in Galwan in 2020. For several years, the two countries exchanged sharp words and avoided deeper cooperation. However, Wang Yi’s trip has been viewed as a turning point, as it included detailed talks and promises of economic collaboration.
One of the most significant announcements during Wang Yi’s visit was China’s decision to resume the supply of fertilizers and rare earth elements to India. The Chinese Foreign Ministry also issued an official statement about the visit. Its spokesperson said that Beijing hopes to carry forward the important consensus reached by leaders of both nations. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning later explained that the next step is to build on the shared understanding reached by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Xi Jinping in previous meetings.
